Travelling widely in rural areas of India, Monisha conducted research, gave talks and produced several papers to highlight issues of the NE. She initiated several projects on women’s development within the region, one of which has grown into a significant community based initiative in Nagaland. |

Maya John Ingty Born in 1932, Maya John Ingty plays a unique role in the Northeast bringing together powerful religious and secular organizations to work for peace. She mobilizes the youth and women towards education and employment in order to draw them away form the culture of the gun. In 2005, she was nominated from India to the 1000 women for the Noble Peace Prize. |

| Bandana Hazarika She was the first woman entrepreneur who opened a fast food hub at Guwahati, Assam in 1974. She has also been the Managing Director of Jagduar Tea & Trading Company since 1999 at Jorhat. A sports enthsiast, Banadana Hazarika was a champion in the inter-college badminton competition at Guwhati in 1955. She was also a founder President of NEWA (North East Women’s Entrepreneur Association) in 1995 |

| Jnanashree Pathak Jnanashree Pathak is known as one of the sensitive citizens of the Guwahati city. She writes often on social issues both in the print media as well as in journals. She involves herself in social work and is Secretary of the Guwahati Montessori School. |

| Joshomayee Devi Jashomayee is Associate Professor of the Indian Institute of Bank Management , Guwahati. She has been involved in research and training, particularly in the areas of Tribal & Hill Areas Development, Planning, and Micro-finance. She has a number of research projects, a book and a number of published/ unpublished research articles to her credit. She was member of first women’s commission in Assam. |

| Baruni Barua Baruni Barua was a banker by profession till she took voluntary retirement from service as Chief Manager of the State Bank of India. Baruni was a faculty member at the SBI Staff Training Centre in Guwahati imparting training on banking and IT related issues. Baruni involves herself with books and matters of gender. She also inputs NEN team on matters of financial management. |

| Darilyn Syiem Darilyn teaches Communication in English at the Shillong Polytechnic. She was the Programme Coordinator of NEN Shillong since 1995. Her significant contributions have helped in building partnerships between NEN and state agencies on gender issues in agriculture and natural resource management. Her efforts also led to convergence between state departments of Meghalaya on issues of gender based violence. Darilyn has several research papers to her name in the field of gender and natural resource management. |

Iamonlang Mawthoh Syiem An M.Phil scholar in Sociology and a lecturer at St.Edmund’s College, Shillong, Iamon has been involved in various academic bodies of schools and Colleges in Meghalaya. She is a member of various churches and of organisations such as the Meghalaya Women’s Alliance, Committee member of the State Commission for Women and of the Human Rights Committee, constituted by Guwahati High Court, 2003 for Statutory Safeguards. Iamon has published articles on two edited books on Matriliny and poems with the Sahitya Academy. |
