Lessons In Forgetting

 

Anuradha Cineplex  screened 'Lessons In Forgetting', a film based on sex selective abortion from 19 April to 25 April 2013. NEN was the local associate partner with Anuradha Cineplex for this week-long film screening event. 

 

The film directed by  Unni Vijayan and produced by Prince Thampi, is based on Anita Nair's Book "Lessons in Forgetting" . The lead Actor in the film is Mr. Adil Hussain who won the best actor award for this film in the New Jersey Independent South Asia Cine Fest, USA.

Talk on Using Photographs to Study Women's Histories

North East  Network in collaboration with the Department of English , Cotton College- Guwahati organised a Talk by Professor Geraldine Forbes on Using Photographs to Study Women's Histories on 21 April 2012 at Cotton College, Guwahati. Prof. Forbes has been working with family photograph collections for a number of years as archives for research on women's history. During her talk, she spoke on the need to go beyond the conventional archive to write women's history.

Talk on Food Security Issues Relating to Agricultural Production in North-east India

North East Network, Foundation For Social Transformation and People's Rights Forum hosted a talk by Prof Madhura Swaminathan on food security issues in India with a special focus on north east India.It was held on March 27, 2012 at the office of NEN in Guwahati.Madhura Swaminathan, an economist, is a Professor at the Indian Statistical Institute at Kolkata.Her research interests are in the area of food security, agriculture and rural development.
